This very old staircase sits in the park at Little Lake, in Midland, Ontario and it has seen better days but I decided to use the photos for Cee’s Fun Foto Challenge: Stairs.
These stairs may look like they are falling apart, but when you think of all the people that have used them over the years, instead of thinking of them as aged and decrepit, they now have ‘character’.
The Queen of England may have walked down these stairs at one time or may not have. The Queen came for a Royal visit to Midland and the big ‘celebration’ was held in this very park.
The ceremony may well have included the little bandshell at the top of these stairs. But….I am not going to confirm this because I would rather think that she did traverse this grand old staircase. Although, now that I think of it, they probably wouldn’t have risked her life. I almost took a tumble down them myself.
Now the bandshell with its pretty little gardens, serves as a place for small weddings. One actually was in progress when we arrived with our Dairy Queen chocolate covered ice cream cones.
We soon discovered that it was a very, very small wedding, and as the joyous couple came down the staircase to get into their trucks, they waved at us so we waved back and joined in the honking as they left.
The wedding party was probably heading up to the Dairy Queen on their way out of the park!
Thanks for coming by……
Absolutely perfect for this week’s challenge. I enjoy these stairs very much!
Thanks Cee…
