Each week thousands upon thousands escape city living and drive up the 400 highway to cottages or weekend getaways to one of Ontario’s premier vacation destinations.

Georgian Bay is one of the most beautiful areas in the province. When the French arrived on its shores, thousands of First Nations people were already here.  Forts were built along the shores to protect and house the Jesuits who came to ‘educate’ the native people. Voyageurs came from far off places, to discover this new land.  Forts eventually held supplies and soldiers in order to protect land and lake, when war between England (the Canadas) and United States became a reality.

 History abounds everywhere you turn.
